Federal Agencies Concerned Face Masks Will Thwart Facial Recognition Tech

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has raised concerns that face masks meant to protect against the spread of COVID-19 may interfere with facial recognition technology —The Intercept.

It is believed that some will continue to wear face masks even after the pandemic for the purpose of evading law enforcement.

Meanwhile, a bill was introduced last month to prohibit the use of facial recognition until a law explicitly permits it.
